Compression molding is a method of forming plastic or rubber in a closed cavity by heating and hot pressing. It is a good choice for manufacturing large pieces, and low-to-medium quantities production with competitive tooling price.
The materials of Zhongde, a reputable company providing customized compression molding service, include both plastic and rubber. The molding pressure of the compression molding process is higher than other process methods, and it belongs to high-pressure molding. We utilize hydraulic presses that can control the pressure, and high-strength, high-precision, and high-temperature resistant metal molds to guarantees the quality of molded products. Using the compression molding process, we can guarantee high-efficiency production, ensure accurate products, and smooth surface.
Plastic compression molding, rubber compression molding, silicone compression molding are all available.
Other types: cold compression molding, vacuum compression molding, direct compression molding, composite compression molding...
Some of the advantages of injection molding over compression molding including following:
▪ Efficient and fast turnaround production time
▪ Low production costs
▪ Supports complex mold design
Name | Description |
Rapid tooling | Mold working life time up to 20,000 runs. Short machined time. |
Production tooling | Traditional molds, used for mass production |
Single cavity molds | Molds only produce one part per cycle, mostly used for low production rates. |
Multi-cavity molds | Molds can produce more than one part per cycle, used to increase production rate. |
Family molds | Molds produce two or more different parts per injection cycle, the parts should be of the same material and color. |
Name | Description |
Mold material | Steel P20, H13, S136, 2316, 2344, 083,718H, SKD618, etc. |
Mold type | Family molds, single and multi-cavities molds |
Mold storage | 3 years inactivity |
Guaranteed Mold Life | Unlimited |
Mold remachining | We can remachine the molds if there are any changes required, basis on mold structure. |
Mold warranty | Lifetime warranty on production molds |
Maximum dimensions | 3000mm*2500mm*2000mm |
Compression molding is a tried-and-true method of manufacturing simple pieces. The process start from giving amount of uncured material placed into a mold cavity, which is then closed and heated. When the parts have cured, they are removed from the mold.

Compression moulding is a composite manufacturing process normally used to produce composite components in high production volume, generally used to make larger flat or moderately curved part
Compression molding is a process of molding in which a feeding material is placed into an open, heated mold cavity. Many products can be produced by compression molding, such as rubber gasket, handles, automotive parts and many other large size products.
The below table shows the size of Compression Molding parts we usually make. If you need a larger size, we can also help you achieve it.
Size | Metric | Inch |
Length | 3000 | 118 |
Width | 2500 | 98.4 |
Height | 2000 | 78.7 |
In addition to the general materials listed below, Zhongde can also modify the materials according to the special needs of customers. Our professional engineers will adjust the raw material formula to meet the unique conditions of use.
Thermoset plastics and Thermoplastics are two types of material most often used for compression molding. Thermoset plastic often refers to polyurethane, unsaturated. Common types of thermoplastics are UHMWPE, PTFE.
UHMWPE | Ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene
PTFE | Polytetrafiuoroethylene
A wide range of rubber material can be process by compression molding ,including Butyl, Natural Rubber, Neoprene, Nitrial, SBR, etc.
NR | Natural Rubber
NBR | Nitrile Rubber
SBR | Styrene-butadiene Rubber
HNBR | Hydrogenated Nitrile
CR | Neoprene Rubber
VMQ | Silicone
FVMQ | Fluorosilicone
FKM | Fluorocarbon
FFKM | Perfluorocarbon Rubber
EPDM | Ethylene-Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber
IR | Polyisoprene Rubber
IIR | Butyl Rubber
TPE

Name | Description |
UV absorbers | Absorb UV radiation, slowing down the degradation of the material when used outdoors. |
Flame retardants | Prevent ignition and inhibits the spread of fire. |
Plasticizers | Increase flexibility and promotes plasticity, reducing brittleness of the material. |
Colorants | Used to color plastics. |
Carbon fibers | Increase strength, toughness, and rigidity of the material at the expense of making the material more brittle. |
Glass fibers | Increase strength, toughness, and rigidity of the material at the expense of making the material more brittle. It is more flexible than carbon fibers. |

Who owns the mold?
The mold belongs to you. Zhongde is only responsible for saving the mold for you and will not use it for other customers.
What is the service life of the mold?
Generally speaking, one set of molds can produce millions of products, and we will provide mold maintenance and repair services. If the upper limit of mold usage is reached, we will reopen a set of molds for free.
What are types of compression molding?
There are two types of compression molding process, i.e., cold compression and hot compression moldings.
